Eva Africa
loves Tuesdays the reason is that it’s the day of the week that I make merry. I
wake up in the morning with a jovial and party mood . its karaoke night at hotel intercontinental in Nairobi Kenya. I
do my daily chores and duties whole heartedly knowing that in the evening I
wonna dance my self out at the hotel.
At 5pm I go
a local pub to shoot pool with my pal until 7pm. Best is when I beat my pal
seven balls, then it means I will dance karaoke in its celebration.
At 8am I
get to the shower to wash away all the dirt to avoid producing bad odour to
people while dancing mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm joking……………. After
shower I seat at the dressing table and do my make up professionally, dress up
then call a cab ready to go dancing, that’s about 9.30pm in the night. Remember
that’s the beginning of fun.
Am dropped
at the main entrance of the hotel as I take a majestic walk towards the lobby where
the action takes place. The venue is normally not crowded between 5pm and 9pm,
but from 9.30pm it become crowded , antone who walks in a suit looks
overdressed for karaoke since u dance till you sweat. Therefore note this the
next time you give karaoke a shot please dress to the occasion so that you
don’t miss the fun due being uncomfortable. Believe me its very hot inside
there thus no need for many clothes.
I like
sitting at the front seat so that I can have a good view of people singing and
dancing their hearts out. Trust me if there is an audience and you too is part
of it, you will never get bored since
people try to sing their favorite songs even if your voice is not in the
keyboard. This is the time you hear and experience all sorts of voices: soprano,
alto 1,2,2…. Base just to mention but a few. However its advised not always to
be audience but also to participate in singing and give the rest morale, this
is another way of unleashing your stress since people are themselves . karaoke
is time for real enjoyment , expression just a moment to exhale.
As for me I
don’t like singing but I enjoy most to hear people sing , then I dance to their
tunes and during short breaks as we wait for the next singer on stage. The
party goes on but I find it convenient and satisfying for me to leave at midnight and go rest as I meditate how
karaoke was.
Please please give it a try when you get a chance.
Bye, Evelyn
