A kikoi is
a piece of clothe made from cotton and can be used for different functions by
different walks of people since it’s a simple easy accessory.
Kikoi can
be used as a wall hanging for decorating the house just the same way you hangs
portraits, wall paintings and picture frames. It can as well be used as a
curtain for house windows and doors: if it’s well accessorized to gives the
house a beautiful unique African look.
The kikoi
is also the dress for the Maasai community of Kenya and Tanzania. They wear it
day in day out and they look very nice in the outfit which leads to tourist
attraction. Tourist look and admire the way they look in the kikoi hence 90% of
tourists who visit Kenya and are aware of kikoi cannot go back home without
purchasing one. I too have several kikoi with and they do me proud.
Other
communities wear kikoi for different functions like weddings, customary
marriages, dowry ceremonies, evening parties just to mention but a few. The
reason behind is that kikoi is very comfortable and simple.
Also one
can use kikoi at the beach as they go for holiday as it is easy to wrap around
the waist. Kikoi also can perform the functions of a towel and it has more
advantages to the towel since it dries so fast thus very convenient.
Kikoi also
comes in different sizes as much as you want and hence can be used as beddings,
they are very warm.
Kikoi can
as well used to make dresses and shirts or blouses depending n what someone
prefers.
I will
of course encourage everyone to have at least a kikoi in your house its
multipurpose and you will never regret having bought it even if it’s expensive,
it’s worth.
